Where To Buy Tools Online?

Recommended Posts

Hi guys!! I hope everyone is doing great!

I am looking to buy tools online and I need your opinion on that. I am not looking for very expensive professional staff but something descent. I fount some websites online with good prices such as goodsjapan.com and ederiet.dk. Goodsjapan has prices in my budget and I heard online that they are selling good quality tools. ederiet.dk has a bit cheaper tools but I cannot find online reviews for the quality of the tools they are selling. Does anyone bought from them to comment? If anyone knows any other shop to europe to buy online please suggest.

Regards

Demetris

http://www.leathercrafttools.com/ has just about everything that goodsjapan does at better prices and cheaper shipping...I have not had to pay any duties on any packages I've received from leathercrafttools.com...others report having to pay duties on shipments from goodsjapan.

Good luck...

if you buy only 1 tool goods japan will usually have better value. Buying a few tools then leathercrafttools prices are 20-30 percent less, shipping from Japan EMS shipping is fairly cheap. Only way to tell is to add them to the cart and tally up the total.

Thank you for your quick reply. Did you tried this provider? Do you know where they are shipping from?

Yes, I've bought from leathercrafttools.com on multiple occasions. They are also in Japan. Their prices are pretty much always better than goodsjapan and that's whether you're just buying one tool or many.

I'm very happy with them. Only affiliation I have with them is as a happy customer. When I had questions, they responded quickly and with pretty good English. Very easy to understand.

I'm very happy with my one order from leathercrafttools. I paid for the middle shipping option, the registered small packet. It was delivered one week to the day from when I ordered. The same day, I ordered from Goods Japan, paying a little extra for Priority shipping. It is going on two weeks and hasn't arrived--I haven't even gotten a shipping confirmation, though when I inquired, she insured me the package was shipped. Would definitely recommend leathercrafttools.

Just arrive from goodsjapan. I placed my order and within 5 working days arrived with free shipping. Another member adviced me to buy each item at separately not everything at once and it worked! I didnt pay any custom taxes

I have used goodsjapan and the tools were excellent for the price. I don't order much from them but sometimes one or two tools at a time and it takes about 2 weeks. I have never had to pay any duty. Be careful, other companies make tools similar to the goodsjapan tools and the quality and execution is horrendous. In my opinion, Tandy (TLF) tools just seem to be crap in the last ten years, not all of them, but the ones that require machining, holes not drilled correctly, that kind of thing. Some tool sellers here in the US, Springfield Leather for instance, are getting tools made by machine shops and foundries here in the US, and the quality is pretty good to excellent. Other shops like Sheridan Leather Outfitters sell quality older used tools; an acceptable tool for the desired use can usually be found there, and the quality will be top notch. If you don't see what you need, call Vandy Douglas at Sheridan. There are other "not so on the radar" leather and tool sellers like Brettuns Village who have new, well made, US tools that I have and use daily. These tools are really good. Bob Douglas also has several tools made here in the US that are available at shows or through Vandy at Sheridan Leather. Bob makes the best awls in the world, and makes really great burr rivet setters. Like I have said before, Springfield Leather is starting to have tools made and sourcing US made tools from other trades that crossover into leatherwork; call or email Kevin at Springfield Leather to talk about them, the prices are great for sharp out of the box tools. I think there is a finesse tools video demo on their website. In fact, there are a bunch of demo videos on their website.

Probably it will arrive by the end of next week. Shipping its free so no worries of buying everything separately:)

I just wonder at leathercrafttools.com the pro swivel knife medium is 16.61 Euro and it looks exactely the same as the Elite Ultimate Leathercraft carving tool knife in the same size that costs at goodsjapan 32,49 .... I buy the first time. I dont want to waste my money buying too cheap...but I also dont want to waste it on buying the same quality more expansive..... does anyone have exeperience which knifes are better?

I ordered a bottle of black edge kote and some daubers from leathercrafttools.com about three weeks ago (unregistered small packet) and still haven't received it. It sucks because I have a bunch of stuff sitting here waiting to be finished. I know it's the cheapest shipping option but the website still says 10 days to NA. and its been like...22. No tracking either so I have no idea where it is.

I've had great luck with Goods Japan and usually get my orders within a couple of weeks. Got one tool with a green stained wood handle... weird.

I've also had excellent luck with:

Beilier’s Manufacturing and Supply

3025 Harvest Drive

Ronks, PA 17572

They don't have a website, so you have to call (717-768-0174) or fax (717-768-0097) or mail the order.

You can call or fax them and they will send an extensive catalogue with pricing... good pricing, and fast shipping.

Their customer service is also excellent. I think they are Amish, thus the lack of a website.

They have name brand and their own brand tools. I've purchased their punches and they are excellent.

They also have the best price on Fiebings Professional Oil Dye that I've found, but they don't carry all of the colors.

You name it, they've got it.

Goodsjapan overcharges on both their items and their shipping.

I've been very happy with every order and I buy from them often. Tools are the same brands as goodsjapan, just at better prices and I usually receive my orders within about a week.

Update - Emailed them today and got this response:

"Hello Ryan,

As we have already written on our website, nothing can be done about the delivery issues on unregistered small packets.

Sorry that we can't give you a help. It is unable to track and doesn't have guaranteed delivery.

Regards,

Toshiki"

I was hoping I could at least get a credit for shipping on my next order or a discount code of some sort.

I guess I'm going to have to re order it from somewhere else. It's been almost a month now and my products are waiting to be finished who knows if it's still coming or not. Anyone have experience shipping to Canada from them? My last order from them was EMS and it took 4-5 days...

I bought already a few times on ebay from Japan (not leather related) and unregistered mails can take up to a month to arrive. 1 even took 1 month and a week...so I would not give up hope :)
