Dude did you sew Elvis's mouth shut. Art or pun? Very cool.

Thanks for the compliments!

Yes, his mouth is sewn together! No more Peanut Butter & Nanner Sammiches on my watch!

I found the skull picture on the net, modified it a bit, then added the shredded edges.

I plan on dying the entire seat with Brown Gel Antique, then dying his hair and eyebrows black, then darkening the smooth part of the seat darker brown and finally airbrush the rim and edge of the seat black..... I put Blockout on the skull so it will be considerably lighter than the rest which should really add a cool effect! We'll see this afternoon...

Just for the record, it didn't start off to be Elvis, It just looks like it... I was really thinking more like James Dean, but when I added the shredded edges, they kinda formed that deep plunging "V" neckline that he was known for....

Hope the customer likes it....

I'm really diggin how you did the shredded edges. The way they resemble the cape he wore as well as add a decorative border to the skull, almost like a scrollwork type of deal. Very cool.

Ok, as planned, I antiqued the seat today and am at present, stitching the edges but wanted to give ya a sneak preview...

preview1.jpg

I added Blockout to the skull last night before bed (3 coats) and let it dry over night. I started this morning by antiquing the entire piece with Range Tan Gel Antique. Then once dry from the antique, added the Coal Black Dye to the Hair & Eyebrows, then buffed it by hand with an old terry cloth hand-towel.

I'm using Black Lace to lace the edges... should be ready for final mount tomorrow morning...

Whatcha think?

Thank you ALL! hahaha All this talk about Elvis! It was actually supposed to represent James Dean, but once I added the shredded edges, it looked like a collar then all I could think of was Elvis! HAHAHHA

Perception.... It's not what I think, it's what you think I think you think!

According to the Men In Black Elvis did leave the planet to go home. Nicely done. I have to try and make a seat now. I have never done a seat before and was really wanting to try it. What weight leather did you use on this one?

Thanks Troy, I think I'm gonna just jump in with both feet and try to do this. I got the seat pan made for free so what have I got to lose? Just time and a little leather. But I need the practice anyways. Now I just need to come up with some kind of pattern.
