Sounds like you need 3 machines. A foot press for the eyelets, grommets etc., a number 2 machine and an imprinting machine.

The number 2 machine does not do well with tubular rivets. No tubular dies were made that I am aware of. It is more for setting spots, staples, prong rivets (they are like spots with the two barbs). Also stay away from the Alu. ones because they wear too easy. Stick with the cast iron ones.

Hope this helps some.

Are you talking about this: http://www.tandyleatherfactory.com/search/searchresults/32418-00.aspx?feature=Product_1&kw=imprinting

If so, where are you at, because I have one, with several attachments, that I've been trying to sell. It's been reconditioned and looks like new.

Hi,

Thanks a lot.It really helps. By the way, stay alway from Alu hardware or press?

Actually,I have no idea what I really need.I'm so frustrated because of my poor English. I'm from Taiwan and get confused about all kinds of rivets, eyelets, snap fasteners, spots and their sizes...Sometimes I really don't understand what they are used for.

I want to make belts and wallets. So,I need buckles and rivets for belt.Maybe snap fasteners for wallets. Am I right?

Speaking of rivet,it really drives me crazy. There're so many kinds of rivets. How many kinds of rivets do we have?

There's a video about Billykirk(a brand name, they make leather goods),he punched a rivet or something with a kick press at time frame 2:05. Is that a rivet? If it is,what kind of rivet is it? If not, what's that?

Here's the link:http://www.acontinuouslean.com/2009/11/05/the-scout-video-the-craftsmen-of-billykirk/

Sorry,I'm a newbie of leather, have lots of questions.

Cheers

Chris

Hi,

It's a Tandy imprinting machine,Item #32418-00.

I'm located in Taipei,Taiwan. Do you mind shipping to Taipei? Is it okay to you that I pay via PayPal?

I will charge the shipping cost,of course. Don't know if the USPS will ship it or not.

By the way,I'm a serious buyer.

Thanks!

Chris

I do take PayPal. On Monday, I'll take it over to a shipping outlet and see what they say, and what the cost will be. Will let you know. Meanwhile, I'll take some pics for you of the machine and the attachments I have for it.

Thank YOU for the interest. I had it listed in a post here in the Marketplace, but I can't seem to find it (with pics and everything). I'd like to get 100.00 for the machine and attachments; not sure what shipping will be.

Hi Wildrose

Okay,no problem. I just checked the shipping cost of the imprinting machine from Tandy is $80.00,but don't know where ship from. Please choose the economic way while you ship it. Thanks!

Here are some pictures. I got this machine and the hardware with it from a friend of mine, Ben Hughes. He had reconditioned it, but his health was failing and he couldn't make use of it. I kept it for a while, and he has since passed away. I, however, have not really had a use for it. Initially, I screwed it to a small workbench and tried it a few times, but it's just not something I need. I'd rather part with it for a low price + shipping and know someone is making use of it!

So if you're still interested, it comes with these attachments, and instruction sheets as well (and some dust!)

Hi Wildrose,

Sorry about Mr. Hughes. I'm still interested in it and will make good use of it.

Thanks!

Thanks :-) He was a kind man and very generous to me.

I put all the hardware together in one box, and will take it and the machine to a shipping store either later today or early tomorrow for weighing and an estimate on shipping.

Bad news: I was at a shipping outlet this a.m. and whether it goes via UPS, FedEx or DHL, it will cost between USD250-300.00 to ship head_hurts_kr.gif I'm thinking in such a case it'd obviously be better to just buy it new. Tandy must have either an agreement with the shippers, or they're shipping it within Europe/Asia.

I'm sorry.

Hi Wild Rose,

It's really frustrating. But maybe we can try other ways.

1)

Do you try the USPS? Calculate the shipping cost online.

Link->

http://ircalc.usps.gov/default.aspx?Mode=Intl_Single&CID=10418

I think it will be much cheaper via USPS than DHL,UPS...

2)

Or you can leave me the weights and dimensions of the box and your shipping address.

I know a shipping dealer here in Taiwan, they shipped sewing machines from the US before.

They have contracts with DHL,UPS,etc, will cost cheaper.

Let's see if they work. I'm a serious buyer and will try any methods that work.

Chris

I'm going to be going out of town for the weekend, but will look into it again Monday. The main issue with the post office is I'd have to pack it all myself, and I don't have the supplies for that. Most of the places here like Mailboxes Etc will do it all for you at a reasonable rate.

You meant that you will take the machine to somewhere like Mailboxes to help you box it, then take it to the post office?

if so,okay,I'll wait til next Mon. Thank you.

Chris

Notice the price of the machine, though!

Stores such as Mailboxes Etc run a service where they will pack the item, then have it picked up for shipping via whatever service you choose (FedEx, UPS or DHL) . They are NOT affiliated with the Postal Service.
