First thing, try changing the needle, then if that don't help I would take the shuttle apart and clean it real good and look for pieces of thread that may be binding it up. Also check the shuttle hook for a burr. Turn it over by hand and see if there is a spot that it feels like it is binding, That may be a piece of thread hung up in the shuttle. Oil it up real good. See if that helps.

Check the needle for proper installation. There's a long groove on the left side of the needle that should be to your left when facing the machine. Not real familiar with that machine. Is it able to sew that thickness?

The needle should not hit either foot. It should go through the center of the inside foot. The toe or toes of the outside foot should be aligned to face straight ahead, not hitting the inside foot. If the feet are properly aligned, but the needle is able to make contact with the side of one or both feet, either the needle bar has come out of position (at the top of the pendulum), or the needle itself is bent.

Thanks for all the help. Yes the needle is in right. It was suppose to be a rebuilt machine. It's like the leather tracks to the side just slightly Not sure what's going on with it. It's really driving me crazy

Jeff, can you return it or was it from a private seller? People's promises of a rebuild or great condition means nothing. My latest anguish was breaking of top thread and occasional tangling as the heavy foot pressure caused a very slight backlash that allowed the tip thread to slacken on the hook. Flip it up or expose the hook and watch the whole process occur. There should be no

backlash.

Hi, It sounds like a timing issue. The timing of the needle and the hook is ether to early or too late, the distance between the needle and hook tip can be wrong too. Check if the needle hits in the center of the feed dog and if the feed dog is in the center of the needle plate. The feet's can also be adjusted if the needle hits it, thats something you can do your self (and start with this matter). The other adjustments are not something a beginner can do himself, you better leave them to a mechanic .

A 180 needle is the largest needle this machine takes (or 200 is, I am not sure, and you are not telling its subclass number), this is a upholstery class machine designed for lighter thread sizes. Although this is a very fine machine, you might consider a heavier rating machine if you are using those heavy threads. If you are going to use this machine at it top limit it has to be properly adjusted. These kinds of error are common when you use a machine at its top limits. This machine is made for use with a size 130 needle, even if its should be able to handle the 180, it is not in its comfort zone.

It will be a smart move if you are going to sew with heavy threads.

Hi, I use in mine 467 needle system 134-35

I noticed that with thick materials a R-point is better than a LL or LR-point.

Because of the asymmetry of the LL or LR-points it moves in the material to one side

and hits the feed dog.
