    looking up the boss machine
  1. Thanks so much for your information. I love the "dirtclod" name!
  2. Hi--I am relatively new to your website. I dabble in a lot of different directions and am so curious about leather. I'd love to be able to sew together something simple. I recently bought a Sailrite machine whiich I really like for heavier fabric and it sews light leather just fine when I've tried scraps. I bought this punch to use for heavy fabric/light leather. I thought it would be a "rolling" punching thing. I have no idea how to use it. I guess you have to unscrew the lever on the right to select the correct punch size, and then tighten it back. What is the punch with no hole at all in it for? Then I guess the left side lever is some sort of lock. Also, I would like to know where to purchase leather strips for handbag straps and smaller strips to sew together pieces of light leather. I have a lot of furniture leather sample squares.
  3. Thanks Art--I am still determined to find a leather machine at a not exorbitant price--do you have any ideas??????????
  4. I found two industrial machines here for sale. One is a Singer 280-3 and the other a Consew 220. Are these capable of sewing leather????? Thanks for any info.
  5. Help--does anyone with a droid know how to load movies to facebook or to their computers? I loaded the pix off the droid with no problems, but I can't figure out how to view the movie on my computer. I was told Qik would allow the movies to be uploaded--didn't work for me. Face book and you tube are greyed out when the selections come up.

  6. Who are Cobra Steve and Cowboy Bob? Maybe they would have a machine that would be right for me? I'd like something that could do maybe upholstery, shoes, purses, etc. Does that make sense? Thanks----My rescued Singers don't have enough clearance under the presser foot to do some of the items in upholstery fabric that I am trying to make. I'd like the added capability of sewing leather too. I noticed that the materials tend to shift---which means I need an even feed or walking foot. Thanks for your help---I am truly in the dark.
  7. Hi--I am Shirley from NC. I am interested in all sorts of sewing but am new to leather. I have several pretty old singers which could hand very light leather. I have a lot of scraps given to me and have been referred by another machine collector to the Tippmann Boss. Is it a pretty good starter machine? I also don't have a lot of room because of my other machines! Comments would be welcome. Thanks and "hello, y'all"!
  8. Hi--I have a bunch of sewing machines I have been working on. I too bought a few old singers but they are definitely not "industrial". Anyway, I have a lot of furniture leather samples and have been intrigued about sewing leather. Someone on one of my groups recommended the Tippman Boss as far as being not too large but doing a good job--does anyone have any comments? I love to sew and have rescued quite a few old machines. I am totally new to leather. Thanks in advance for any tips.
