Can You Tell The Maker Of My New 10" Splitter

Recommended Posts

My neigbour's father braided rawhide 50 years ago and used this splitter, My neighbor was over for a visit and asked me if I needed a larger leather splitter? So he went and reteived the splitter from a old shed at home then brought it to me.

The maker sign is gone. I cleaned and sharpened it up. It works great. Can you identify my new splitter?

I haven't seen one of those live yet, but had a guy email pics of one he had from his grandad. He was told it was originally from England, his grandad had a lot of Dixon tools so that might fit. Can you show some pics from different angles? That is sure a unique design.

You know I'm glad you posted those pictures. I can't help identify it, but I love making my own tools, and making a leather splitter is a future project. I've been looking at different blades to use and for some reason it never dawned on me until I saw this to just make the blade myself. hahaha So thank you for spurring my creativity.
