  2. Yes, I agree that a purchase from a a reputable dealer is the way to go. In this case a person living less than 30 minutes from my home purchased it and didn't use it and were moving so they didn't want to deal with it. At the price I paid it was not a difficult decision to purchase it. I am able to do most repairs or corrections myself especially with the abundance of advice from knowledgeable people on this site. Thanks Tom
  3. Thanks I'll give that a try
  4. I come across a pretty good deal on a 1 1/2 year old GA5-1 today. I purchased it for $475. It has a servo motor but does not have the speed reducer pulleys which I think may be necessary. According to the seller it has only a few hours on it. It does appear new and sews great. My question is, can the feed dog be adjusted to a lower position. they seem quite high therefore limiting the thickness of material that can be sewn. I know that they are supposed to be capable of 7/16" but I would be surprized if that thickness would fit in this machine. For this price I couldnt pass it up. It will work fine for the work I do. Thanks in advance.
  5. It looks just like the one that trox posted
  6. Hi Bruce, I would like to show it but I'm unable to post the pic due to size. Unfortunately I'm not computer savvy. The best I can do is describe it. It appears to be a rosewood handle with a brass Ferrell, the blade is 6.25" and in good condition. It has 100 years of patina on the steel but it has the ring (sound) of quality steel. After sharpening it has taken an excellent edge.
  7. The facebook icon happens to be right here below this reply box. I assumed members of this site used it.that's why I posted there. At my age I don't need to be hip. I was just trying to find a way to post the pic
  8. Trox I posted it to the leather worker Facebook page. Maybe you can find it there
  9. I'll have to work on that. Probably when one of the kids are here to help.lol
  10. I'm doing this with my Droid, so I don't know if I can change the file size. I tried cropping but that didn't help. Mine looks just like your pic but the blade measures 6.25" at the widest point
  11. It says my file is to large to upload. Not to good with these things, don't know how to reduce the file size.
  12. Not sure how to post the pic
  13. Thanks I'll check that site
  14. I just acquired a H.F. Osborne round knife. The blade is 6.25" I am familiar with Osborne knives but not H.F. Osborne. Does anyone have a ball park date of mfg. Or current value. The knife is in good condition and I will be using it for my work. It appears to be high quality steel with what appears to be a rosewood handle.
