  • How did you find leatherworker.net?
    google search
  1. Hi Rod. Sorry for the very basic question, but could you please explain what the advantages are of trees covered in rawhide? Many thanks.
  2. Kin, would that mean that the pattern could actually be changed to alter the saddle size? If so, that's actually a great idea. In this country the photocopy machine always scans it, and the shop usually has that scan available for a month. That file could be transfered to "My Documents", cut to a CD, and the postage on that would be minimal. Which would be cheaper than photocopying and easier. But I'd still pay for the effort, postage etc....
  3. Hi Rick, Can you tell me if this pattern is still available commercially, and where please?
  4. There is a thread here: http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=25991
  5. Hi james, welcome. I'm not the expert around here, but you hold it 90 + degrees to the leather, and use a corner point only. There is no way you can do curves trying to cut with the whole blade. Others might have variations on this theme...
  6. Thanks for the welcome KingsX Hi Natalie, Thanks for the welcome and your signature line Utterly agree. Reverse genetics.
  7. Thanks Crystal. Nice to know there are other kiwis here.
  8. Hi there. My name is Hilary, and we live in New Zealand. Silver Cloud was my grandfather's favourite horse. I started leatherwork as a teenager, and stopped once I got married. However, our younger son is getting married in a year, to a young lady, whose hobby is western riding. So as a clandestine wedding present, I want to make them a miniature western saddle lampstand. and realised that after 30 years being away from this field, I'm out of my depth. So that's why I'm here. To rekindle a hobby and pick a few brains along the way. And I'm not telling anyone that I'm doing this, so that if it's a resounding failure, :poofan: no-one will know that I lost the plot.
