John Ok, John....now make sure you will not tell anybody, and I mean not even ur girlfriend!!!!""......that I told you that.....go to Tandy's catalog, read messurements for wallet....cut paper to this size....then look ur neighbors wallet up for inside desing....cut paper just as u like the inside, according to outside messures.....transfer to leather....sew, dye, hammer or else....and ur done......then take it all apart and make thin fiber-sheat pattern for ur later use!!! flyingcuda Report post Posted July 5, 2011 thank you Electrathon for taking the time to post and help. unfortunatly the style you use is not quite what i was after. at first glance, yours totally confused me...which apparently according to my hubby isn't hard to do he had it figured out in no time. i didn't realise you weren't showing the back piece in your post. the one i am trying to do has a main open slot at the top so the bills go in unfolded and perhaps a few slots for cards. the measurements you have on there may be exactly what i am after, if you hold a dollar bill open across your wallet open...is it a perfect fit or is it a tad too small or big? again...thank you for posting, and by the way, you do very nice work! i'm still trying to clean up my tooling Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

I just now took a closer look at your pattern and I see that the numbers all add up nicely. It looks like it should work just fine. I've 'made things' all my life, so even though there aren't any indications of whether an edge is raw or is folded under, I realize that there are just personal ways that someone might put the wallet together. But, yes, maybe a few lines on 'how to assemble' and 'how many to cut' would reassure someone wanting to try out your pattern. Thanks for giving it to us. I bought a Tandy Premier Wallet a month ago for precisely this purpose. I wanted to draw around it on film, so that I can make myself another one exactly like it. I did find that since the interior is already sewn together, making an exact copy of that will be a little tricky. There is a center area that intentionally doesn't lay flat, but rather will encourage the wallet to bend in the right place after it is assembled. Pattern I was looking for was for the bilfold body parts. So I could print the body parts out. Not a tooling pattern and not a biker style wallet. Printable pattern for bilfold wallet body and guts. That is what I am looking for. Sorry if there was some confution about that. And thank you all for posting I have learned alot already. But really like a printable pattern if possable. Thank you. johnggrg Report post Posted July 6, 2011 (edited) Ok I am going to try and figure this out. I cut 2 peices of 5-6 oz veg tan leather at 3 1/2 x 8 1/2. Now if I can figure out how to make the pockets and ID holder. That was why I was looking for a pattern to print instead of guess work. At this point that is all it is. I know the leather is thick for this but I want it to last. Maybe someone is good at making a printable pattern for the inside peices I need and can wipe one up and post it????? I hope so. Just so you know this will be hand stitched I have no machine. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. And I'd also posted it on a forum, the time it happened to me. One lawyer on that forum found the info a different (better) way, and posted a more permanent link for everyone. He said something about there being some sites that change their links daily. Anyway, I'm going to re-paste your above link, which is working great at the moment, in a way so that it's all 'visible'. I was just trying to find a wallet pattern that included a ID or picture window in it as well as Card holders in a bifold wallet. I should have included that information in my post but didn't. I coppied the plans for a future wallet but mine will be hand stitched not laced. A how to on the picture or ID holder would be nice but I can figure that out. Thank you TexasLady for fixing the link for everyone else. Let me ask you this. I know most people use a thinner leather to make there wallets. Do you think it would be ok to make the outside peice from 6-7 oz. Then make the inside peice that the card holders are attatched to use 2-3 oz? Would that work well? That is all I have on hand at the moment. I was thinking of doubleing the 2-3 oz inside peice so it has a smooth side on both sides. This way the pocket were the bills go has a flesh side and would sturdy up the interior peice. It sounds like it will work good but would like your opinions on that. Thank you for all the help.. electrathon Report post Posted July 8, 2011 Let me walk through this one step at a time. The pattern I posted is a billfold design. You can use it as a 4 pocket with cards on both sides or a two pocket with ID window on the other side. If you want more card slots add more of the angled pieces, make each one a little longer. You will need one of the larger pieces and one angles piece, two of the rectangles. This is for a ID window wallet. The back (carved part) of the liner is 9 5/8 X 3 1/2, glue a liner directly to it is you like. Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Fold it over and sew it (you can likely use a home machine for this, you should be using the thinnest leather you can find. I usually use pig from tandy for this part.
