I am trying to figure out what tool I saw....

This thing looked like a rotozip or a large dremel, and hung from a pole about 3-4 feet tall. It had a cable attachment that hung down, similar to what the little asian manicure people use when they do fingernail stuff... and the guy could take a regular stamp, like a beveler or shader, and put a collet on it, and snap it into the end of the cable attachment, and when it was running, the tool would vibrate so that instead of hammering, the leatherworker just drug it along the leather....

Any ideas?

Check out GRS engraving tool, Graversmith is nice and much quieter than listening to that dang flexshaft. You'll need an air compressor to run it. Still can be noisy though.

I saw the Power Mallet at the Wichita Falls Boot and Saddle Roundup. I imagine that it would be useful for doing large amounts of tooling, however, the price they were asking was a bit steep in my opinion. it was a little over $1000 which seems high considering what it is. Looks like a reciprocating motor that is basically the same as power chisel you use with a compressor.

Look for the Foredom flexshaft tool. They make some sort of chisel head for it, but have never used that one. I have the handpiece with a 1/4" chuck on it and mainly use it for edge burnishing/

Oh.. I think Harbor Freight has a version of it as well

There used to be a deal sold that was a roatry shaft tool and reciprocating handpiece with a large collet. They called the "SpeedStamper" and weren't in business very long. I had one and liked if for long beveling especially.
