Carved Belt/this Is What Happens When You Let Your 67 Year Old Dad Free In The Leather Store

Recommended Posts

So my dad asked me what I wanted for my birthday and my answer was a side of tooling leather…..

The result was a side of light weight saddle skirting(13oz).

I told him I would make him a belt with it and he could have anything he wanted, it started simple but then I gave him some options. He collected coins and these conchos were similar to some he collected years back. This belt was not as blingy as my daughters but it ended up with more tooling than hers. Here is the result…...

Nice, and not the usual thing. The black and the dark red-brown make it look almost like expensive dark chocolate. Yum.

I like how your hardware matches the conchos, and the color of the leather is a super contrast with both.

Great work!

. . . but you'd better keep your cousins and aunts and uncles away from the leather store!

LOL, I like your "this is what happens" titles. Very nice belt! It looks even better than the last.

Rohn,

Thank you for the encouraging words, I am a year in to my hobby now but it does not get old hearing feed back.

Very Nice!

Thanks for taking the time to look and comment:)

Thank you for the comment, I have been trying to figure out what my style is……..

I feel hungry now;)

Thanks, it really does look nice in person. I love this shade of brown and have done quite a few items this colour.

Mike,

That comment made me laugh and I probably should take it to heart.

Ironiclly the first belt I made was for my uncle/godfather(one of the first topics I posted).

I think making items for family is good practice, the initials are font I've carved before but the floral pattern was the first try. I also am a big fan of this boarder stamp.

Monica,

Thanks!!!

I thought it would be comical to play on the post for my daughters belt as that post has probably had the most feed back of any topic i have started.

P.S. I won't tell my daughter you said my dads belt is nicer than hers;)

Allan
