Patterns stitched on belts etc

Recommended Posts

Just wondering how one goes about sewing fancy scallop type patterns on belts etc and getting it symetrical all the way along?

Thanks

I don't know about others but I used to do my own embroidery and I would trace the pattern onto the material and then very carefully follow it. Took me some practice to get good at it but I got there and when I was done I could do some pretty nice embroidered work using the sewing machine and the zig zag function.

Now when we just want to do decorative stitching we draw the lines and just follow them while sewing. A lot of the time we won't use the treadle we will move the needle by cranking the wheel manually. It's slow but you don't accidentally run off the edge of the piece trying to make the curve.
