Leather Maraca

leather- How do I form the leather around the handle without bunching, i filled the wet leather with sand, but the handle needs to be cut or something. thanks

It might be an idea to provide a little more information, and maybe some pictures of what you are talking about.

Also, try reading some of the 'wet forming' leather posts in some of the other sections of the board, they should point you in the right direction

just use a bull's sack (testicle sack)

Made a ton of "bolos" with them.

Thanks Natalie, I don't have any pictures but I just want to make a maraca or shaker out of leather. I saw one that some friends from Canada made and thought I would like to try it. I will keep looking for molding and shaping leather articles.

One like that doesn't look like it would be hard to make. You might be able to find some of the plastic fruit the right size and cut in half to use for your mold. Or if you know somebody that has a lathe get them to turn the size you want and cut in half mold it and then sew or lace it togeather.
