In Desperate Need Of An Old Tandy Pattern For Top Stub Checkbook Cover

Recommended Posts

Hello, I hope someone here can help me. I am looking forTandy Kit number 4181 Top Stub Checkbook Kit. I just need the pattern/template. Not the whole kit itself. I have looked on ebay, Amazon, google to see if we had swaps or something around my area, and I have even called my closest Tandy store to see if they could help me locate it. Results.... Nothing. I even went as far as to contact a seller on Etsy who makes and sells top stub covers, but it has been a couple of weeks and she hasn't answered me. This is going to be a birthday gift and it is fast approaching so I don't have time to order a cheap plastic cover to try and do my own. And I can't ask the birthday girl to give me a book of her checks for measurements LOL. Even if someone has something similar it would be greatly appreciated!! Here is a picture of what this kit looked like. And many thanks in advance

American check sizes are standard (binding is on the top edge of the book). So you can measure your own, or a friends unless she is using something totally different.

Maybe your bank, or another local bank has the same offering. They should be interested in selling you that series of check book. ;)

Have you thought about getting an inexpensive top stub checkbook cover, or cover and wallet, that you can deconstruct and use to make your own pattern? They'll run about $2-4, plus shipping, for a vinyl checkbook cover, and a plain import leather checkbook cover+wallet from Amazon will run up to $20 plus shipping. Even getting a cheap vinyl cover would give you somewhere to start, then you can use some ideas from the great wallet tutorial pages to add to it to make it into a wallet or checkbook clutch, or add things like slots for pens, a pocket calendar, credit card slots, and so on. Since you're worried about a time frame, have you tried calling around to see if you have any small specialty office and stationary supply shops? They often cater to small businesses and executives, and have stock items for imprinting. If they have the covers, they might be willing to sell you a cheap plain cover or a misprint.
