cosmotoagist apron/toolroll

Recommended Posts

Hey folks!

I have an old friend who cuts hair and beutifys folks for a living. She is in need of a good wrap around toolbelt so I told her I could make her one of course.

I told her to find a pic on the web of one that is similiar to want she wants and then tell me what she wants different on it.

But I thought I would ask here in case anybody has done one before or has any ideas.

I plan to do it like a toolroll that can hang around her waist from a belt or strap.

Any ideas?

William

You are now infringing on my full time job! LOL

Actually I sharpen beauty shears for a living (along with sales).

I have seen and sold dozens of different designs of such holsters/belts.

Most are just as you claim a tool roll with a belt. Do you know how many scissors

she wants to hold? Any accessories? She will appreciate a way to easily remove hair that falls in.

On a side note, I have used my shear sharpening equipment to sharpen and or hone my leather tools.

I even carried the machine to a guild meeting and sharpened there for the members.

It can put a unbelievable polished edge on a swivel knife. Makes ceramic blades cut even better.

I am interested in seeing what you come up with. I personally think you should fix something that has holes in the bottom of the roll so the hair can fall thru. You know something where the tips of the scissors will hang out a little not alot. Also I wouldn't make it out of tooling leather. This might be too stiff to move around with. You will want a place for combs, clips, razor and possibly small clippers. Ask what tools they use most often. This will help alot.

I know a little something about hairdressing. I can't wait to see this one. I might just have to make one for myself.

Nice, very nice work. Now I have some silly questions. Sorry. Could it be made to tie around the waist like a carpenters tool pouch? But made so it wasn't so bulky? This would keep the tools close and within reach at all times. the person wouldn't have to be reaching for their tools all the time. they would be right there.

I like the scissor, comb and clip portions.

Looks great Dag! I love your design and color.

I plan to make mine as a 'toolbelt' around the waist. I will mostly likely be made from some pink upholstry hide I have. The smooth side will be out towards her clothes and the sueded side will be the inside of the pouches. So from the front, you will see both sides as it will fold up from the bottom to form the pockets.

I need to tal to her to see if she prefers snaps or a buckle on the belt. I'm thinking a buckle as it will hold more weight. I will most likely put it on the side of the belt so she can get to it easily.

C-

I actually have a couple of photographs of a hairstylist pouch with multiple sissor holders. Send me an email and I will get those photographs to you. Maybe you can create a simplistic pattern for your use.

Note: As for SissorsMedic's comments, I can vouch for him. He was the guild member I mentioned a month ago in a 'thread' about how he sharpened a couple of blades for me and to this day, they cut beautifully after appropriately stropping them, of course. S/M, we missed you at the last meeting, hope to see you next year.

What resolution are they? If they are low res or have a small 'pixel size' it could make them small on the screen like that.

Found this at the local hairdressers today, hope this helps. They are quite expensive to purchase. Am going to make one and auction at the hairdressers for charity as there a a couple of requests for them with initials etc already. Cheer's Darryl
