Question On Linen Thread

Recommended Posts

What thickness linen thread do you use for making leather journals, 2,3,7 strand? Where do you get your linen thread for making journals?

I would like to make my friends and family some leather journals and I am unsure of what to use for thread. Every tutorial that I can find on the internet says to use linen thread but doesnt say what thread count or where to get it from. Would Tandys waxed nylon work just as well or would the knots work loose because of the nylon. Here is the nylon thread Im talking about, http://www.tandyleatherfactory.com/en-usd/home/department/Lacing/1227-038.aspx

Help please.

Thanks, Serena

Serena - I assume you are using the thread to sewing the paper? If so 18/3 should work. You can get it from Talas in New York, or John Neal Books. They both have websites and sell bookbinding supplies. Hope this helps.
