I'm new here since August.

This is a belt I made for my wife.

Looks like a nice belt. Hope you don't mind a bit of constructive criticism, but the edges could stand a bit more burnishing and If you would dye the holes for the buckle tongue and the slot where the buckle fits it would look better. I use a Q-tip for dying in these tight areas.

A Rohn said I would bevel the edges and burnish. If not over time they will become pretty ragged looking. Other then that it looks very nice.

Good point Rohn.

It is a good looking belt. And I would add one other thing. Where the belt makes the bend to hold the buckle, I skive the area and finish it up with the curved end of a belt sander. Takes away a lot of bulk and will not detract from looks and has plenty of strength.

Question: Did you stop sewing before the buckle because.............A lot do it but I sew ALL the way around the belt. Just curious.

Another minor point (no pun intended) I'd taper the end so it fits into the metal tip better. Looks a bit like a fat person in a too small pair of jeans. I make black belts all the time for my SO and she likes them 1" or less. I don't stitch or use a finer thread very close to the edge.

Cya!

Hi bob and thaks for the critique.

I had a lot of trouble getting the fat one to fit!

I'm looking for a splitter / skiver as we speak.

I just have a Tandy hand skiver at the moment
