I've seen articles on taking a standard round punch & grinding/cutting off half. (You'd need to watch so you don't ruin the temper). Also there are standard 1/2 round punches out there in various sizes. Tandy & other companies sell them. I know tandy sells Al Stohlman brand half-round punches in different sizes.

It all depends on the size you need, so you can either buy or maybe you'll need to fabricate.

Hi Sal,

maybe our user John Barton can jump in here, or you can even write him a PM ?!?

He did a lot of this scallop edges in the past on his pool cue cases, as you can see here.

Cheers,

Marcel

Thank you. I didn't know the half round strap end punch came that small. I'm glad I joined this forum.

I used the half-round punches when scalloping the edges of a cantle binding. They work fairly well. Unless they started making them again, I do not think Tandy is selling the Al Stohlman Half-round punches anymore. I asked about them and the store owner here said they were discontinued and he couldn't find any. Check with Weaver.

The round drive punches can be used also... use a grinding wheel to grind off

what you dont need.

Yeah I was gonna say I have up to a 1/2" drive punch that could be ground off to do that - and they're a TON cheaper to destroy than a belt end punch.
