Chap Issue!

Recommended Posts

Howdy all

So I got a young fellow that I am doing a pair of chaps for, he wants them to grow with him.

Heres the issue he wants snaps not buckles. How do I make it adjustable with snaps?

Thanks

Josh

Maybe experiment with leaving the (what would be the atached end of the leg straps) leg straps loose and just lace it on instead of using a rivet or sewing . put a snap where the buckles would go.

I made a pair for nieces and a nephew with snaps. I put d-rings where the buckles would be, and rivited a strap made of chap leather where the straps usually are, then tied the snap on the end of the strap leaving a tail on it so it could be adjusted as they grew. I have also left fringe off the bottom and just put it on the sides, so as the little cowboy or cowgirl grew taller, we could add fringe across the bottom for longer wearing. Hope this helps. Deb

I was a bit worried about this topic, Josh, and didn't know what to expect. Over here, a 'chap issue' is one that doesn't concern ladies!

I thought you might be having 'problems'... LOL
