Encyclopedia of Rawhide and Leather Braiding by Bruce Grant has been an invaluable resource for me. What do you recommend?

Yup Thats a good one

Here's another good one but you have to get all of her books to be complete

as she references them in her instructions and unless you have the whole set

you won't know what she is talking about. She also teaches classes.

Gail Hought

If you want an intensive 3 week on premiss corse this is really good.

Okanagan Saddlery

Here's the APWA (Australian Plaiters and Whipmaker Assoc.)

If you join you can buy all of the back issues of their newsletter.

I think it's currently 5 Volumes could be six by now not sure.

These volumes are INVALUABLE!

APWA

Personally I didn't have any books when I started I taught my self.

I was making whips for several years before I even knew there was a book on the subject.

Hope these help.

All he best

Victor

someone mentioned the Chan Geer dvd with 2-3 color double lacing. Where can I get it? It's not listed in Tandy or Hidecrafter catalogues.

I have the video Introduction to Rawhide Braiding "The Cowboy's Craft" by brian neubert. I don't think there is an easier way to learn how to braid. You can get the DVD and go frame by frame on the knots.

The video will show all the necessary knots and braids you will need. It is one of the most straight forward learning tools I have.

here is a link to his site

I just thought I'd add these details about Grant's books.

A note for all you braiders: Sheridan Leather is now stocking Packers Drum Stuffed kangaroo. We currently have 5 colors, with the black being nearly sold out. We are only buying the best grade hides from them, and they are nice, nice, nice! They measure about 6sft on average. Of course, we also have the vegetable tanned kangaroo (dry) in several colors. Please give us a call with questions on pricing, quantity price breaks etc. We always love to send out samples! Thanks-

Vandy
