What Type Of Sewing Machine Do I Need? Any Tools For Sale?

Recommended Posts

I want to make decretive Leather Bronc Halter nose bands, with hide, rhinestones, spots, & more.

I'd like to use multiple or different hides, leathers such as stingray, embossed leathers.

Can anyone help with patterns, & how to sew hides on?

What tools & materials will I need, and where to get them?

Any help would be so appreciated!

I've attached some samples of what I'd like my projects to look like.

Thanks,

Andrea

If I were you , I'd start with something small before you dive into a sewing machine. You already have the cheapest sewing machine available. Your hands. As for tools and techniques, I would recommend you go to Tandy or another leather craft store and but beginner kit with a project that you think you'd like. Unless you want to invest a LOT of money on tools and leather without having any real experience. If you are new, you don't know what to use, therefore what to buy so it will be a lot of trial and error.

I started with a tandy kit three months ago and made the wallet abortion.

Last night, I finished this purse. But I spent at least 2000 bucks on all the HAND tools required to make the purse, and I don't even have a machine yet.

I also recommend reading a lot. Use the forum, buy leather books etc. and ask a ton of questions. Take a class if you can, make some stuff if you can't. Your pics are pretty advanced projects. Start smaller and learn from your inevitable mistakes.

Good luck,

Mike

No worries. I'm not trying to curb your enthusiasm, only provide some guidance that I didn't have when I started. Now go make something!
