  1. I have been using this machine for about 2 years with out to many problems it stopped picking up the bobbin while ssewing unless you are sewing fast it starts off just punching holes and when you tredle faster it will pick up the bobbin and go to sewing for a while the its all over again. I have tried everything I know of same thread I have always used same needle ( I put in a new one and I have it turned correctly) no thread is bunching up the upper and lower just lay there unless I speed up. This is a 29-4 tredle machine no electric motor. I dont know what else to try. Also thread is not hanging up anywhere. Can anyone help me................Landy
  2. been doing this for about two weeks made some realy cool stuff.and got a lot more learning to do.

  3. cdthayer, thanks for the info I found that using a larger needle helped the problem but I wasnt sur if it was the needle or coincidence.I cant locate the spring your talking about the only spring I can see on the machine is on the upper thread tensioner.
  4. Kevin I believe you could be right I started noticeing the skipping when I started tredling mor and one stitch at a time less. thanks Landy
  5. My patching machine will skip a stitch once in a while. Sometimes it will skip 3or 4 stitches. I am sewing patchs to leathervests and such using a #16 needle which I am sure is not bent or blunted. If the upper thread tensioner grabs the thread tighter every so often will this make it skip util it pulls it loose? The spindle on the upper thread tensioner has a groove cut into it from years of use. I wonder if it might be snagging the thread a little? I am also using a B69 thread any help would be greatly apprecciated.
  6. Thank you cdthayer i will try that this weekend it will probably make the job ea sier and might solve the problem Wiz, thanks much for all of the helpfull tips. Also thanks for the tip on useing all caps I had no idea, it just made it easier as i am new on computers Thanks again
  7. I HAVE A 29-4 TREDLE LEATHER SEWING MACHINE RECENTLY PURCHASED ON EBAY SPECIFICALLY PURCHASED FOR SEWING ON PATCHS WITHOUT SEWING THE POCKETS SHUT. I HAVE LIGHTENED THE TENSIONS ON EVERY THING THERE IS TRYING TO GET THE LEATHER TO STOP CREEPING FORWARD AS I SEW ON THE PATCH LEAVING A PLEAT AT THE END. I HAVE EVEN TRIED GLUEING THE PATCH TO THE LEATHER WITH CONTACT ADHESIVE AND THAT DID NOT WORK AM I TRYING TO USE THE WRONG TYPE OF MACHINE FOR THE JOB OR IS IT JUST GOING TO TAKE PRACTICE. IF ANYONE HAS SOME ADVICE I WOULD APPRECIATE IT. THIS MACHINE HAS A WALKING FOOT WITH FEED DOGS ON THE BOTTOM OF THE FOOT. YOU CAN ALSO TURN THE WALKING FOOT 360 DEGREES AS YOU ARE SEWING.
  8. THANKS LUKE..............LANDY
  9. I have a 29-4 leather free arm machine I purchased just for sewing patches onto leather without sewing the pockets shut. the walking foot is causing the leather to gather up at the end of the patch like a pleat. I have adjusted everything adjustable, I have even glued the patch to the leather to no avail can anyone help with this problem or any sugestions.
