  1. thank you for your advice,i have checked the clearance of the carrier and that is fine, but the tension spring is not good(does not move freely, catches on carrier),i have got it to move without catching but i will have to replace it,i didnt realise this spring could cause such a problem,i also greased the gears to help with any play and now it is stitching better, cheers, martin.
  2. hi there,i removed mine by taking the pinion box out with shuttle to get to the screw, turn the machine onto its back, remove the two screws covering the pinion box the turn your wheel until the block on the driving pinion is at the furthest point on top(this makes returning back to same position easier)then slide out the long rack towards you after this all you have to do is remove the two securing screws and wiggle out the pinion box and shuttle, hope this helps you.
  3. thanks for your help, but i have tried college sewing and sharp sewing neither could help me.
  4. hi all, not sure if anybody can help but i have a 29k53 and i am having problems with top thred looping and snaging on bobbin,i am now starting to think that the pinion gears are worn to excess which may be the cause,i have read that these gears for the 29k53 are not available-is this true and if so will any other machine bar(think thats what its called)fit this machine?any help would be appreciated as i am starting to loose the will to continue with this machine and i think it would be a horrible door stop.
  5. thanks for the link mikesmith648 but i have that one,i was after a service manual that gives all the set up tensions and settings so that i can start at the beginning to see if i can sort out my top thread looping problem as this manual also has some troubleshooting ideas for a service engineer.
  6. thanks for your reply,i will have a look

  9. hi there,my machine has not got a bobbin case opener and the original hook had been worn down to a round end instead of the point it should have,i have played with the timing but to no avail,so i am going to try and strip down the head ,clean and check for wear and see what i find.
