  1. No unfortunately. I ended up keeping the machine and loving it. You can contact Steve or Dave at the Leather machine company, they will get you set up. www.leathermachineco.com Best, Rich
  2. Are you asking about accessories i make, or accessories for the machine? Thanks, Rich
  3. Hello all. I am really deep into a duffel bag for a client and i am getting an extreme amount of rub off on the deer hide that i dyed. I used fiebings oil dye black, rubbed excess, applied neatsfoot and carnuva after. Any recommendations? Could a 50/50 neatsfoot and bees wax work? Thanks for your help, Rich
  4. Yes Claude, I will pass along your information. He was really interested in someone local as for shipping purposes but I will definitely pass it along. Thanks for getting back.
  5. Hello everyone, I recently went into a knife sharpening spot near me to get my skiving knife all straightened out. The owner started inquiring about my work and was asking about leather knife sheaths. Having some Veg scrap I began making a couple samples and quickly realized its not what I'm set up for. I am setting and resetting my machines and it's just creating more of a work load than a one man show can perform. If anyone in LA needs some work and knows the ropes on a good finished veg tan product please pm me. I am going to inform the client it isn't working out this week and would like to make an introduction at that point. He's a great guy and I don't like leaving anyone hanging out to dry. All the best, Rich
  6. Hello everyone. I have been looking into custom stamps from infinity and was wondering if anyone has used a kick press/setter to emboss the logo. I have a kick press but not an arbor press. just trying to use what I got. Thanks for the help. Rich
  7. We have made it back and have some news for the people who replied to my post. Italy was amazing, and on occasion, you will come across a crafter with a retail shop still trying to make a buck. I met a father and son who had a shop with his designs on the wall and a old pfaff cylinder arm where the register should have been. It's pretty amazing and invigorating to see since the father worked for Bernini for thirty years. In his smoke filled shop he humbly said in broken english, "it's not Gucci but it's not terrible...", when speaking of his line. My hunt for leather began in Florence which many suggested I do. I do not, from experience, recommend you do this. All the tanneries are in Pisa which unfortunately we did not go. We found a leather hide retailer, nothing too special, but fun none the less. The owner of the store provided us with the information I just gave you. We did get some suppliers out of him and were able to see quality and finish from hides he had available, which was a plus and potential connection. Other that our trip was filled with gallons of wine, pounds of pasta, and a lot of walking...A definite must go.
  8. Hello everyone, My girl and I will be traveling to italy in a couple weeks and I wanted to touch base and see if anyone can recommend some leather related stops they have made. Maybe a tannery, tool supplier, school etc. I know there will be shoe makers all over, which I am incredibly excited about but any other recs would be greatly appreciated. I am aware of barnsley sheffield being in the UK but any tool suppliers from Italy? We will be going to some small town north and South and making stops in Rome and Florence. Thanks for the help. Rich

    Juki Tsc 441

I am considering selling my Juki 441. Surgery is on it's way and as much as I don't want to sell it, i see it being happier sewing than sitting. I tend to personify items I have a connection with. I am not desperate to sell but if anyone wants it for $3500, come and get it. local pick up is desired but If you need it shipped we would have to figure out a few things. Cost, plus how to pack a freight train. the machine is located in Los Angeles. Cheers to all of you. Kind regards, Rich
  12. Not sure how many of you have had the oportunity to meet Cobra Steve, but if you haven't, i suggest you give him a call sometime. I had a truely great experience going to the cobra warehouse today and would just like to openly thank Steve for all his help and information.
  13. Hello all, Does anyone know the range of needles I can use for a Juki 441? I just purchased this machine and it has a GB 230 needle in it and damn, it might as well be an ice pick. What size is this? 26-27? I would like to run the smallest needle possible with the corresponding thread. Any help would be appreciated. Happy Holidays, Rich
  14. Bob, Thank you and it's great to put a face to the voice. Have a great two weeks off, I will be ordering soon. Best, Rich
  15. Hey wiz, Quick questions for you. This machine is way different than any other I have used in the past. I have a canister on top of the machine filled with a foul smelling substance that is a bit crusty. ( is it a thread lube canister) Any idea what the canister is used for? It opens and closes but has no function other than directing thread and smelling like crap at the moment. As far as the set up is concerned, can I use the techsew 5100 as a reference when threading the machine? Is it identical? Thanks for the help, Rich
