My First Order Placed With Springfield..

I Ordered a cut of rawhide along with a few other things, the nice looking products that were in the display pictures of their website were exactly what i found in the box, which was delivered on time. They are giving away a 5x9" sample piece of kydex, which is a very nice thing to do for the customer. I've got odd feelings over any sort of new polymer or plastic that tries to look even with a hand-made leather sheath or holster, and now i'll get to play with it a bit without worry! I Received a hand-written letter thanking me for doing business with them, Along with a humorous sale ad.

I am more than satisfied, especially after so many mis-haps and 'i'm sorry that was out of stock' notes I've had with another leather goods supplier. Thank you for providing what I wanted on time and showing friendly customer service!

I've ordered from Springfield half a dozen times or so and am quite satisfied. The couple times I called to ask about a particular side of leather, I got a salesperson who actually knew the product line... refreshing.

Rather than create a new thread, I think I will chime in here as well. Just received my first Springfield order and I'm very happy with it. Since I'm just starting out as well as getting comfortable with suppliers, I made a relatively small order One of their horse butts (there are so many jokes I want to make here, but I know we've all thought of them), 1 lb of their remnant leather (for small projects and I think it's a good way to test a supplier. Gives you an idea of the quality they put into their work by looking at the size and quality they sell as scrap), and 5 sq ft of their gamblers choice leather.

Ordered on Friday and received the order on Thursday. Not bad at all for a trip from their store to Boston, and that's with the order being hung up for a day by a mistake on my part. I ordered the gamblers choice and forgot to note any weight or color requests in the online order. I have to give them credit. They could have picked the cheapest odd lot they wanted to get rid of and sent to to me, but of course they didn't. I got a call Saturday afternoon from one of their sales reps to check with me about the order. Heather was real nice. Asked me what my planned projects were, what weight I'd like and if I had a color preference. They may not be able to match your needs to the letter, but it seems like they will do their best to get pretty close. A lot more accommodating on the gamblers choice than I was expecting. I explained I planned to do some practice small cases and pouches; pocket knife sheaths, belt pouches and the like, I asked for something in the 4-6oz range. As for color I asked for something in the earth tones but a little different than the standard browns and tans. What I received was a nice peace of leather in the 5-5.5 oz range in a grayish brown color. Nice looking, but something you don't see every day.One tiny little blemish up at the very top and a very little hole in a far corner. Neither are a big deal at all. The hole is so small I can nip it right off and the little imperfection is close enough to an edge I can just make a belt loop out of the area with no trouble. The rest of the hide looks perfect to my eye. For the price, it will be a perfect practice peace and as of right now I would have no problem ordering store choice from Springfield for peaces I intend to sell as long as I'm doing one offs.

The horse butt was exactly as advertised. Not blemishes, no marks, no big problems of any kind. I wish they had listed average weight in the description, but not a problem really. Since they sell straps of the stuff I had a good guess of around what it would be and I assume most people ordering hose butts know what they're ordering.

I also got an Osborne universal eyelet setter, a half spool of kangaroo lace, and one of the small Kydex samples they offer. Most expencive item in the order was the kangaroo lace, but they still made the effort to give me a call back. Not many bussness would do that any more. So ya, I'm pretty happy about the purchase I made with Springfield right now.
