Well, that's a new one! What browser are you using? What happens when you click "my controls"?

Just curious- what skin were you using when the header was messed up? What skin did you choose to make it display properly? I'm asking because someone else is going to have this problem sooner or later. The default skin here is "mocha", and the others are not set up well. I know one of them for sure breaks the code at the top of the page, but one member wanted the option to see the forum in blue.

I think I might be the "one forum member" Johanna refers to above. Since I prefer a more neutral color scheme, I tried the IPB Default Skin, but abandoned it same-day due to its many bugs. I switched over to IP.Board Pro and found that one worked almost perfectly. Seems to me I found a bug a while back, but it wasn't anything major... I can't even remember what it was.

I'm kind of surprised that changing skins can wreck functionality on IPB forums. I thought the whole idea behind a skin was to give several visual options, without affecting the underlying functionality. I guess Invision still has some work to do there... :)

Ummm..no..can't blame Invision...

I've not done the modifications to the other skins that I did to the default Mocha skin. So they all have "legacy" problems, meaning the other skins don't match the main board in features and function. Maybe one day I'll get bored, have the time and feel like it?

Johanna, Please excuse thiks computer illiterate. But, I think this is a good time to ask a question which probably has a simple answer. However, unbeknown to me.

When I look at any portion of the forum, the printing appears on a tan (?) skin (maybe this is what the background is called). Is there any way that I can change this background to white without comprimising anything? Also, is there a way that I can increase the letter font size for everyhting that I view. A white, or a much lighter background would really increase my ability to view (Read) the forum. Thanks for any input. carlb

Carl, maybe Jo knows another trick, but I think the only way to get a lighter background color is to select IPB.Board Pro from the drop-down menu at bottom left (instead of Mocha v1.2 (Import)). I know the brown hues were picked to give folks the feel of a leather forum, but I definitely appreciate an alternative choice. That said, I certainly understand how it may not be worth it to offer this option if it means double the work to create enhancements... ::(

Regarding font size, you can bump that up in your browser. In Firefox, pick View... Text Size... Increase from the menu. In Internet Explorer, pick View... Text Size... Large. Of course, this changes the text size on all web pages, not just Leatherworker.net...

Johanna, It was the default skin. I went to IP.board pro and this corrected the problem. I have since tried to use the default again it it still did not work properly. IP.Board pro works great.

Another option you might like, Carl, is the lo-fi version. You can click on the bottom of any page where it says lo fi and toggle it. It strips the forum of all the fancy bars and icons, and just gives you the text of threads, presented in a simple file tree on white. Dial up users will notice that the pages load much faster. The forum does not load the bells and whistles with this option.

Alex, I will fix the IPB Pro board for you. Let me get this profile driver error squared away first. I look at all the tech boards in soft blue and white, so I know what you mean about the colors being easier on the eyes. I liked this soft Mocha skin much better than the ultra-modern looking alternatives. Some people read these kind of boards with white text on black, and I would go blind.

Johnny7- (beautiful seat and lacing, by the way!)

The mocha skin messed up for you? In Internet Explorer or Firefox? I've not had anyone else tell me this- if someone else is having the same problem, please let me know! I will have an IPB tech on Fri. to chew on, and I'll bring it up. Thanks for everybody's patience and help!

Another quick trick for increasing/reducing text size in Internet Exlplorer or Firefox: Press the control key and use the scroll wheel on the mouse. Very handy for adjusting on the fly.
