Boriqua Report post Posted June 11, 2015 (edited) I am making a set of saddlebags and am using a compbination of Black harness and Burgandy Latigo. Both are good and oily but I would like to impart a little more subtle sheen to the Latigo. I have seen latigo bags online with a soft highlight. I have a jar of neatsfoot oil/beeswax paste I mixed up a few moths ago and it gives a wonderful shine to things. Is it safe to put some on the latigo? I dont want the latigo to be Shinny .. TomG Report post Posted June 11, 2015 Hi Alex, Latigo is oils and wax already, so I doubt that you'll hurt it. I used to use mink oil paste all the time on vegtan and it made the leather extremely pliable and water resistant as well. Try a piece of scrap, rub it in and let it sit overnight. johnv474 Report post Posted July 3, 2015 If the leather is very oily, giving it very much sheen is difficult, so go easy on adding oil and use polish/wax. Work boots don't shine up like dress shoes partly for this reason, but a subtle sheen can be obtained. Shoe polish/wax has harder waxes than beeswax, and can have higher luster. You may want to try some neutral Kiwi polish, working from heavy pressure during application to lighter pressure to buff. Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
