FYI - I found this cool website with some free and inexpensive patterns.

Some are pretty simple and others are perfect for a leather project.

You are welcome! I especially like the patterns that look like

stained glass windows. Bear, duck and elk medallion...

Also, down at the bottom of the glossary is "Floor Medallion" and any

one of those would make a good clock face. I fixed a couple of

clocks for customers and bought a couple of extra "clock movements"

so I could make a couple of small clocks with a leather face.

I might even use the Bear Medallion for a clock face...

Hi Cheryl......I really like that concept.....and it might actually be easy enough for me to make!!!! Can you give me some details about how you assembled it? Is there some type of hard backer that you attached the leather to?

Yes, this is very easy to make... All there is to my clock is the leather and the "clock movement"

The clock movement I bought has the shortest shaft so there would not be any room for any thing else to fit in the

space between the movement front and the nut that holds it on...

You can buy them with a longer shaft if you wanted to and longer hands - if you wanted to use a larger piece of leather.

I made mine 4 3/4 x 4 3/4 square (only because I have a cutting die that size) and it is 8 oz leather (1/8 inch thick).

The clock movement has a built in ‘hanger’ (triangular hole in the back that is about 3/8 inch deep) and it easily holds

the leather. The leather is sturdy enough to just stay in place.

What I ordered for this specifically - from http://www.klockit.com/ is the

10002 movement for $2.75

and when you order you have to choose what hands you want to go with your clock so check those out before you order.

I used the 66992 - Hands - spade 23

I got the idea for this from a friend that has a clock similar to this and it just hangs on the wall with no frame.

* All you have to do is make sure that when you are done tooling your leather… make sure it dries flat.

* You could mount your clock in a picture frame too, but so far I can’t find any this small.

I made a mistake and thought I better mention it... hopefully before someone brings it to my attention

that my calculations were wrong...

*The leather that I made the clocks out of is 1/16" thick.
