Wife Gave Me Clearance To Buy Machine!

Recommended Posts

I've been leatherworking for only a relatively short time, but I'm already getting interested in doing more than just holsters. I don't really mind hand-stitching holsters because there's usually not THAT much stitching. But I can't imagine doing some larger projects without a machine. Now I just need to decide which one. No real budget to speak of, but I guess I'm hoping to spend not more than a couple grand??

I've read quite a few threads on here regarding the pros and cons of the various options, but I guess I'm still looking for more guidance. I own quite a few quality woodworking machines and I've never regretted spending the money on the most often used tools. Any advice will be appreciated..

Randy

check the pinned post at the start of this section and many of your questions will be answered ,,,, http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=25239,,,,,,,,,,,

there are several dealers, who support the site we need to support them .. you will more than likely end up with a 441 clone sold here, I'm partial to the Cobra 4 and Steve, but talk to all

and make your choice,, support is very important after the sale, so look for the post and info re: the vendors ,here, there are many friendly and helpful members here to answer all the questions you will have but read the link, first and get a direction and and go with it, David

Thanks Greystone. Yep...read the pinned post (a couple of times, actually). Service after the sale is at or near the top of my list, no doubt. If I buy new (which is likely) it will be from one of the forum sponsors, for sure..

Definitely get the best you can afford, while remembering you'll need OIL, THREAD, NEEDLES, And THE FOOT SET(s) And they are substantially more expensive than home sewing machine items.

Congrats on the "go ahead" from the wife. LOL I bet she has ideas to use the machine as well...

Also check out what used machines the forum sponsors might have as well since they will stand by what they sell new or used. I bought a used 441 clone from cobra steve and its my favorite machine now. service was great too.

Yeah, I too had to get a green light. From the people I have spoken with thus far, they have all been incredibly helpful.

Now if I had the Green Light, you could pick me up on your way through he Fox Valley and we could go to Toledo together. Would be a good time. 1/2 the gas and twice the sewing machines.

Me too now I just need a green light. Maybe I'll buy one and tell my wife she gave it to me. Think it will work?
