  1. I like Barry King tools. Yes, they cost more than machine made tools but, for me, BK tools are a superior value for these reasons: As a buyer I know exactly how the tools are made and the metals from which they are forged. They have a life-time warranty. If the tool wears out or breaks, which none of mine have BK will replace it at no charge for as long as I am alive. The exception being that a buyer can't expect to return an abused tool and expect a free replacement. I also find value in being able to call Brad at Barry King Tools. He knows everything regarding the tools and is gracious. Try finding someone with his knowledge at too many of the machine made outlet stores. I am confident that whatever I buy from BK I will only have to buy it once. I tend to choose quality and service over price. It took a lot and I mean a lot of misspent money before I attained the previously mentioned tendency. A hard lesson learned. Chipper
  2. Andrew: Look over the selection of Osborne punches at mainethread.com and look over the vintage tool section at sheridanleather.com. Chipper
  3. Hi Dirtclod, Got hold of Toledo Bob, today. Everything you said about him is true except that he wouldn't remember you. Ordered my $169.00 Cowboy Neal's Leather Splitter. Should arrive by the end of the week UPS. Again, Thanks Chipper
  4. Hi Y'all, Recently a friend bought what he was told, by the seller, to be an RT Frazier saddle, "In mint condition," for $3K. After seeing it, I'm troubled about the saddle's authenticity even though it has some RT Frazier features. Here are a few observations. There's a Frazier stamp on both fenders and latigo holder...but none visible elsewhere. The horn is solid brass and exposed and all conchos are silver on brass while the D rings are solid nickle all consistent with early made Frazier's. There is NO serial number which is inconsistent with the tradition of Frazier mail order saddles. It's a well made older saddle, in very good condition but it's not, in my opinion a Frazier. Without taking it apart to reveal the date and name on the tree, I can't be certain but I have little doubt that my pal was taken by the seller. I've been wrong on many things involving saddles and saddle making over the years so chime in with your opinions on this matter please. Chipper.
  5. Bruce, Which company, in your opinion, has the best selection of CSO tools and is WELL stocked? Thanks, Chipper
  6. Thanks for the info. May I tell Bob that you said to call him? Chipper
  7. Hello Y'all, This is first post. Not sure I'm doing things the proper way but let me tell you what I need, please. I read the post from the fellow who told another fellow that a third fellow he called "Toledo Bob" could sell him a Cowboy Neal's leather splitter, as seen on ebay for sbout $250.00, for only $165.00. I want in. Could I have Bob's number so I can buy one today, if he's available. Is he with Toledo Industries, by the way? Thank you. Chipper
