First Notebook Cover

Recommended Posts

I've been wanting to carve a notebook cover, so I used Chan Geer's packet on How to Draw Sheridan Patterns for my design idea and went to work. The pattern has been drawn for a while, just never put to leather.

Enjoy.

By the way, I'm thinking of oiling it, putting on some RTC, then antiquing it. (Sort of the Sheridan Way)

Tell me what you think!!

Marlon

Marlon,

I really like the pattern and design flow. I see an absence of leaf liner, flower center with seeds, mule foot and bargrounder. Are you finished with the Sheridan style or is this a phase I? The leaves look really good but need more lifting to give depth. Sorry I missed coming over this weekend. My attention got diverted to other tasks. I'll give you a call Wed. and we'll see how our schedules look.

John

Thanks Indy. No matter how long I look at a piece. I always seem to forget something. I still have the piece cased so it's no sweat to add the rest.

Thanks Ken,

I hope to try your vest tutorial one day when I grow up. It's definitely looks like a lengthy process.

I think it looks great. Now what the heck is RTC ?? I have mucho respect for anyone who can do floral or Sheridan. It looks like it would take me 2 life times to do one carving. Can't wait to see what else you do here.

RTC is a resist formula created by Bee Natural products (same folks for Pro-Carve). Basically a block-out.

Here's a picture of the label.

Hey Marlon, that is a good looking piece of work you have there. I wish I could draw like that, but I've been wishing that about my whole life. You really did a fantastic job on every bit of it. Thanks for sharing with it with us, as I and I'm sure everybody else in the forum enjoy seeing good work like yours. Regards Billy P
