Ritza 25 Tiger Thread - Spool Price?

Recommended Posts

Hi all! Like many here before me, long time lurker coming out the shadows.

Great community/ forum here! Lots of great info and advice!

Now to the matter at hand:

I recently bought small quantities of Ritza 25 (wich I haven't recieved yet) at what I think is a fair price (compared to other offerings out there). Small quantities seem to suit my needs better for now since I'm just starting out but in the long run, having to pay extra for smaller bits AND pay for shipping for every single transaction might end up costing me an arm and leg.

So, this got me thinking of full spools. Harder to find but got a hold of someone selling some at what I once again think is a fair price. Thing is, I have absolutely no idea what those go for - I can't seem to find the 'retail price' anywhere -, so my idea of what's fair and what's not might be pretty far from reality.

Any of you ritza 25 users care to give me a idea of what it could be worth?

Hi, I just bought three 500m rolls from Abbey England at a cost of 21.500 English pounds ea which roughly works out around Au$45 per roll. Postage would be extra.

If you are buying it in short pieces you are paying WAY over fair price. You likely could have bought a spool of it for twice what you paid for the few feet you got.

That's for sure electrathon.

I have no problem paying a 'premium' for smaller lenghts.

I would, however, have a problem paying such a 'premium' for a full spool.

The guy offering me full spools would make about 10-12 bucks margin wich I think is quite fair, since he would order specifically for me and would take the risk of being stuck with it if I weren't able to pay or whatever other reason (which is not going to happen but still, I guess it has to be taken into account).

All in all I think it's quite fair - if it's not, please do chime in :)

Hi Silverback are you from Australia? Have you received your items? I placed my order of two rolls from Abbey 5 weeks ago, but still haven't received anything yet. I'm from Sydney, NSW.

Hi MO,

Yes I am Australian, but i was in England in January and picked it up myself. I think he said it takes a few weeks to arrive If sent by mail . They use the cheapest mail to keep costs down . Could be worth a quick email inquiry though. You will love using the stuff.

Peter.

I'd drop them an email minimal Oz, I've been buying Ritza for quite awhile and I usually get my order within 1-2 weeks depending on what postage they decide to use.

thanks guys, I sent them an email two days ago and they said they couldn't find out the problem. But luckily my order arrived today! took almost 6 weeks! I know this does not happen very often...

Anyway, I am pretty happy about the items, looks really nice, haven't tried them though.

I live in the states and just opened an account with Abbey. I ordered five spools in black, cream, brown, red, and green. The five spools came out to around $127.00 (without shipping) I guess I have to wait for Monday to see shipping prices. I don't know how long it will take for it to get here, but I imagine I will have a whole pile of cut and punched projects by the time they arrive. I'll post shipping charges when I'm billed, and delivery times when I get the shipment.

If it ain't broke...take it apart and see why its still working.

I too have opened an account with Abbey.

Bought three spools and a bunch of bits and pieces for an order total for $97. Shipping to eastern Canada was $37 with DHL, which is quite expensive. I wonder if royal mail would have been cheaper.

Still, even with this hefty shipping cost, each spool comes to $42 shipped which is cheaper than any other price I've seen.

I have yet to recieve the order so I can't really comment on shipping times.

Well I thought I woul report on my first Abbey England / Tiger thread order. I opened an account with Abbey England. It was as easy as sending an email request. They responded the next day with log in info. Just received my first order for 7 rolls of Tiger thread. It was a bit odd the way they process orders. On check out the invoice total does not show any shipping cost. It says shipping will be calculated upon dispatch. Well, not knowing what shipping was going to be, I only ordered the 7 rolls that I really wanted. Cost was 114 pounds. Converted to $189.00 USD. Well shipping gets billed as another credit card charge. In my case it was $33 USD. So, final tally is $31.71 USD per roll. Not too bad on price or shipping. Package came in 3 days.

I believe (haven't checked card yet) that five rolls plus shipping came to 97 pounds or about $150.00. This would come out to about 6 cents/meter. I may try to sell some of this through my friend's Amazon account. in 50 meter units @ 10 cents/meter which would come out to $5.00 plus shipping. As soon as I check my statement and get it rolled, I will get it posted. This is the .8mm in black, brown, cream, red, and green. If it sells well, I can get more colors and sizes.
