My favorite part

Recommended Posts

I am new. Since we established that now... lol

I have found that I enjoy carving. Although not good at it yet, I enjoy it more than the other aspects of the "making stuff" process. My second favorite is the showing off what I did part, so there is incentive to finish it.

I have found that I have about 10 items in the finished carving stage and in need of sewing/assembly stage.

I also have discovered I have alot of items with no owner. Meaning I have given away a bunch of stuff to friends and family,

made them things just to make them, and stuff with no real end destination. My wife will soon be wondering why I need to have this stuff saying around.

Anyone else have this problem?

Anyone have any tips on how to find the motivation to finish one before you start another? Ha Ha!

Think of those who got your fine artwork pieces as your ambassadors or PR guys and let them now this too. The least you can expect from them is that they promote your work whenever someone admires it.

I just pointed out a true friend as an official ambassador of my work because she brings in work without my asking for it and she loves what I do so now she is very proud of this and wears my official ambassador tee and I think I'm gunna have to reward and honour her alot in the future. Invaluable!!

Only problem I have is to keep up with orders (so far this year) + I still do not get paid enough to make very much money out of it but I do overwork every single piece in my pursue for perfection and think longterm about getting paid. Off course I do this because it's a burning passion and I can't stop and love to develop, learn and try to top myself every single time.

I love to carve - I'd definitely say it's my favorite part too.

I have one unfinished project sitting around: it's a camp chair I can't seem to motivate to finish because I don't like the pattern (I did it to challenge myself with something outside my normal style). I used the pinecone pattern that came with the kit.

It's been sitting for several years now!

My fav is when it finally comes to gether at the end or pretty close to it. I generally feel it looks bad in the middle and find it hard to get motivated to finish, plus in the middle it never looks as good as when your all done and put together. Even if the end isnt exactly what I was looking to acheive it is still something that I made with my own hands and usually feel pretty proud of that.

I think my worst part is the first cut of the leather. I allways look at a piece of leather and really admire how good it looks and think to myself about a hundred times hows the best way to utilize the leather, is there a better way to cut it, did I get my measurements right, did I get my measurements right, did I get ....... lol

ofcourse Im just a beginner so Im sure alot of you all get over this after youve been at it a while.

allen, i mostly make leather masks and my favorite part is the painting...a mask can look pretty dull and boring until i get the airbrush going, then the mask comes alive!!!!
