  1. I need to start with some background info first, I am making a bracer out of a piece of a belt blank. I have got my Ecoflow timber brown dye and have practiced on a few pieces of scrap to determine how much dye to use to get the color I want. So my questions are.... Do I need to do anything to the edges of the leather? Do I dye the backside of the leather? And finally what is a good coating to put on the bracer on top of the dye? I will be wearing it outdoors alot, and sweating on it and possible rain, so I need something thats going to repel water, but I don't want a real polished look to it. Thanks for any and all info.
  2. Hey there guys and gals. I need some help on my first project. I am going to make a bracer, I know the pattern I'm going to tool into it and all that. My main problem is dyeing it, do I need to do anything special to the leather before I dye it? Does the leather need to be dry, cased, damp? Which dye is better to use, Fieblings or Eco Flo? I'm going to practice on a few pieces before I dye this project, but was just trying to get everything figured out before I start ordering dye and other supplies. If theres any links that could help me out I would appreciate it.
  3. Does anybody have a knife sheath how to? I was also wondering if there is a way to join leather besides sewing? I'm not opposed to sewing, I've just never done it.. I've got a fixed blade knife that needs a sheath. What kind of leather do I need to use?
  4. Is the Tandy 7 piece starter set good enough to make basic belts and the such? Or is there another tool set that is higher quality for the money? By the way I'm just getting into all of this and y'all have a great site here! Full of info!
