Thanks Oldtimer, so are they Padded or non-paddd slings? Do you use different leather for padded or non-padded slings?

Thanks once again

I make mostly unpadded slings , on the cobra slings I sew thin split leather to the back side to keep it from sliding off the shoulder.

I try to keep the slings as light as possible so they won´t make the shooting unsteady if they swing from side to side. On my own hunting rifles I have a plain 1" sling, no fancy stuff, as I prefer function before beauty when hunting .

Thanks Knut,

Actually I use my slings to make my shooting steady, I take most of my shots standing so I steady my gun by placing my left elbow on the sling, that is the reason I am loking for a wide sling, I don't let my sling hanging loose while shooting hence no risk of swinging side by side.

Thanks a lot on lining tip.

How does that work, with friction?

I sewed a button on my jacket to keep the sling on my shoulder.

Make sure that the leather grain is going the right direction so that the sling has minimal stretch . Look up Turner slings, he make slings for competition shooters, and has mentioned the part about choosing the right leather.
