Open Faced Box With Floating Leather Cross

Here is a picture of one of my open faced boxes with a leather cross inside the box floating about an 1 1/2" above the inside of box

I made the cross out of wood and covered it with calf leather and coverd the cross with leather front and back and a gymp strip aroung the edge of the cross with solid brass tacks

The box is covered 100% with leather. on the back of the box is a set of praying hands. I lost the picture somewhere in the cyber world

The inside of the box and the sides of the inside are done in a red diamond tuck leather with a solid brass nail in each point of the diamonds. I used a decortive gymp on the outside of the box framing it with a scalloped punched edge with solid brass tacks on it.

This box was a challenge to make and it was the first ,So I had to work the bugs out. hope it is nice enough to show. Gary
