Checking In From Central Florida

Recommended Posts

Hello Leatherworker world. My name is Matt and Im located in hot, humid central FL. I recently wondered into a leather project in lieu of building the perfect seat (in my eyes) for my bobber project. I started this bobber project wanting to built as many parts as I can to display my metal working skills and take on new trades such as leather tooling. I have completed my seat cover and almost finished up a fuel bottle holder that im having some mounting onto the frame and could use some guidance.

what I started with

its current state

this is the seat that i cut out, hand tooled and dyed, its rough but is fits the bike

I ended up ditching the fuel sling in the last pic as it didn't fit in with the seat and tooled a new sling that Im much happier with

sketched out a quick simple compass to add a little detail to the bottom of the sling.

here is where I have ran into my dilemma. I was going to put a couple of slits on the back and loop a leather strap around the frame and back into a set of double split rings but im afraid that over time and the weight of the bottle full of gas that leather will tear. Im open to any suggestions and criticism?
