Using Leather Splitter On Upholstery/ Pull Up Leather

Recommended Posts

I'm seriously debating getting a leather splitter. I cut almost all my work on a laser now. Which is great but I can't skive my hides by hand before I put them in. I would like to get maybe an 8" splitter so I can split all my pre cut pieces down to size. I typically use 2-3 ounce upholstery hide and pull up. My seat blanks are typically about a square foot and I also run long 6ft long strips for bar tape.

I'm wondering what peoples opinions are. Do splitters only work well on veg tan or really stiff leather? Or if my blade is razor will it work?

opinions on what to look for also would be helpful.

Carson.
