Where do you get these glass eyes? I've been looking for these. Rick McElrath rmcelrath@gmailcom
  3. After I posted that I looked, yep, WAY too small..
  4. I have a Tandy Biker wallet kit, it's pre-punched for stitching. Can I use these holes and lace it instead? I have some 1/8 leather lacing. Thanks in advance. rlm
  5. Makes sense, looking at the blade on the carving knife. I used a thinner blade to curt some detail on part of the wallet, and I understand about getting close enough to bevel next to it. Just need to practice. Thanks again. rlm
  6. I am new a this. I bought a beginner kit with the carving knife and 5 basic tools. Doing OK so far, nothing fancy but I know my limitations and I'm happy with my progress so far. I want to put a number on the leather, not using number stamps. But I don't think I can use the carving knife I bought to cut the small detail for the numbers. Can I use a smaller hobby knife to make these detailed cuts, then start beveling, etc? Thanks in advance. R. McElrath
  7. Geez, if I could only get this much out of my kids! Thnaks so much for the feedback. Rick
  8. Terry, thank you for the information. Looks like I'll tape it up, probably two or three layers. What is the acrylic you speak of? And I have a good spray adhesive, same qualities as 3M, works with wood, leather, paper cardboard, it should do the trick. Thanks again. Rick McElrath
  9. New here. I have read that many here apply a backing to a workpiece before stamping to prevent deformation. It seems packing tape is a popular choice. Is this necessary for all stamping pieces? I have a wallet in the works and don't want to screw it up, well, too badly anyway. Does the tape affect the quality of the stamp, or does other backings do the same, cushioning the stamp? Tanks for any help, and for all of the priceless info here on the forum. Rick PS. This is a freehand design I sketched on lightly with a pencil..

  13. Greetings from NE N Carolina. I am looking for a leather craft supplier in the area of Norfolk, Chesapeake, Portsmouth, Suffolk VA. I know there is a Tandy in Richmond, but that's further than is practical to drive. Any guidance appreciated. rmcelrath@gmail.com
