  1. Many years ago there was a fishing program on TV. The star of the show was Gaddabout Gadis. Would you be that person? I loved his show, its was in the early 60s.

on ebay those are old magazines

  3. Rawhide, am only trying to give other craftsmen another way. The stitches will never ware or brake because they are in the grove. If this does happen you, start two or three holes from break and repeat the procedure. Not rough on hands and is fast. You are using the best thread for hand stitching. You only need one tool. Hand stitching makes your work better, especially if machine is not practical. At times the the running stitch is not fesable because of stress. A good hand lockstitch will withstand a vast amount of stress. Upon completion of your project, use round face hammer to lock the stitches and recess them in grove. A round face will not leave any marks. Use this method on all types of laceing and stitching. Just experemit sometime see how it does. GADDABOUT
  4. I might suggest that you get a set C.S. OSBURN Bossonnette Edgers. They are great and sharpen eaisly. The steel is great. They consist of sizes 00-0-1-2-3-4-5. To sharpen them, Get some good string/ thread the same size. Wax or affix oil of some type and put jewelers on it. This always does a job for me. Have been using these since 1978, Just try one of your favorite size. GADDABOUT davidg@jcom.home.ne.np
  5. HELLO FROM "GADDABOUT" GET IN TOUCH WITH ME

  6. Rawhide your write up is great. There is a better way to hand stitch than the method you use. Get an awl half and a needle from The American Straigh needle or one for the Landis 16. These needles have a hook on one end and sharp enough to make it's own hole. Get a long length of thread you intend to use. Push your need thru the leather where you intend to start. Hook your thread over the needle and apply preasure to keep it on hook. Pull the thread thru. Now pull one end thru so you have a thread on each side. Now push needle thru, form a loop and hook the needle with it. Keep pressure on it while pushing it thru. Pull enough thru to form a loop that you can pass the other end thru. Pull both end tight so they can form a lock stitch in the middle just like a sewing machine does. This is very easy and fast.
