  1. I to am in PG. Contact me and mabey I can help out

  2. I learnt tooling and such and comfortable where i am at. I got sewing machine now and want to learn garment making, specifically corsets. I have contacted local people in BC to help and assist and am met with seeming anomosity and resistance. I need to seriously build confidence and how to do some basic things like seems and folds and so on....any words of advice...and BTW i do not do well learning pragmatic things through instructions of reading books.
  3. What are some things I can do to finish the backside of veg tan leather after I make a belt or guitar strap? any idears?
  4. I find ecoflow black does leave a blue tint as well....so black its blue.... I use fiebings black instead and i like it better cuz when i polish it with sheep skin it really does the trick
  5. As it appears I may already have lifters....perhaps the modelling tool i got will work. It appears to have proper metal part large on one end small on the other and shaped like a pen type. No handle.....perhaps with no handle i will not be able to get leverage or necassary angle?
  6. Thank you ALL I think I will transform my AWL into a lifter and maybe a screwdriver for a larger one as well.
  7. I can not seem to find lifters at tandy...anyone else have any? Any pics of what they look like? Do they have any other names?
  8. I use freezer masking tape that butchers use for meat wrap. It leaves a residue but if you wet the leather again the residue disappears and leaves to sign. ITS PERFECT
  9. Tom Great advice!!!! I will take it and try this on the next time...you dillute covas, from tandy, with water??? or perhaps I could use lexol leather conditioner?
  10. Storm... your right the fiebings was spirits and the cova did lift a few times which sucks...i finishe dthat piece...its a belt...i used cova on words cuz they were yellow and wanted it bright....then black fiebings..then when you buff it to shine it the black goes on the yellow and creats an antique look i like...that is not like antique gels....but i guess trhat is what screwed my cova and lifted some parts.....not sure...but if i found a yellow that was bright in fiebings that would be ok i assume..i should look into that perhaps...lol but i really wanted that acrylic type cova look for it....but i learnt my lesson lol...
  11. I am having problems with cova colors...I painted a piece with it and wghen i was rubbing, polishing, my black dye....my cova color came of in a flake....I had used super sheen on the cova t keep it on before dying surrounding area black then rubbing it to get the shine of the black.... is this maybe because the dye i used is fiebings and cova is tandy and the bit of black fiebings gets on the copva and takes it off due to chemical reaction? perhaps cova came off cuz i was rubbing the cloth hard? does cova colors ussually flake off? any ideas to preven this? or tips on using cova colors? Thank you
  12. So generally do you bevel then matt it? or just matt it? I got a crap load of stamping tools....bevelers and so on...I do not know which is which with the bevelers I think i got 4 seperate smooth ones...one a use for bevelling, then a couple other odd shapes i use for tough spots...then i got a couple weirdo shaped bevelers...would those be matt-ers?
  13. Thank you very much. I just was not sure if I was on track and i think i will do some research to find some of the discontinued ones you state. maybe on ebay? I have not really used the site before but I keep seeing it suggested here so i will try it...ebay should do an advertisement and pay this site becausde of the amount of times its been mentioned..... Storm thank you....this site rules....but only because of its members...all of you!
  14. I kow what backgrounders are and bevelers...what is a matting tool? is this the checkered beveler?
  15. you know what! I bought a hole saw to try it and it would not work and was going to return it but now that you say this....i will keep it and get ahold of a grinder and try this...good thinkin man! thanx...now to figure out what to use to sharped it? evenly....remember I am not mechanically inclined
