Harness Hardware

Recommended Posts

Hello, I wonder if any of you could direct me to a good site to buy driving/draft horse harness hardware? Very interested in brass show hardware items.

Thanks, Eva.

One of the best ranges in Europe can be found at http://www.abbeyengland.com/en-gb/home.aspx. They are happy to supply overseas customers, and although their products are not cheap, the quality is excellent!

I don't know if they ship overseas, but Meader Supply Corporation has always had a good supply of hardware. Flip through their online tack catalog, and you may find what you are looking for. http://www.meadersupply.com/Tack-Catalog-V-L/Tack-Catalog-V-L.html#p=1

Thank you both for the information about where to find harness hardware, it is for great helt. But then again, the norwegian/scandinavian harness is quite different then other harnesses. My sister want me to start making the smaller parts for her old harness, and she would absolutely love it to be all brass, but we have a hard time finding brass buckles who is suitable for harness.. so then again just ordinary buckles must be what we can work with. For example, I am going to make her two breastcollar straps, (neck and brast strap for collar) and we have not found brass buckle. The buckle we have found is 40mm round (see picture below) but no one in brass, and then again the norwegian "ore" may not come in brass at all ("shaft-plate). So I guess we will end up with ordinary hardware anyway. But price here in norway is about 35 dollar a pice... I think this is quite expensive, but then again, maybe it isnt? What do you pay for buckle like this?

And if you like to read about norwegian/scandinavian harness, take a look here (english):
