General Rule For Lace Piece Length Lacing Item's Edges?

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I need to lace item's edge about 1 yard length with the double loop. I know what the TOTAL length of lace should be there, but it seems to be crazy to pull 7 yards of lace through the hole in the begining. So I'd like to split the lace.

Is it there any sort of "general rule" what recommends the length of the one piece of strand for lacing an edge?

Thanks in advance!

Measure the sides to be laced, times it by four, then double that answer.

I spread both arms and cut the lace, about 5' or so. If you have high quality lace you can get away with longer, crappy lace and you need to go shorter. Pulling it through the holes will wear it out.

I grease my lace when doing edge braiding. That helps it slide better and reduces friction and wear on the lace.
