  1. Just a hunch, but I think models would help you out a lot better than brands. Several brands of gun may be near identical, look at 1911's or peacemakers and clones.
  2. A needle scaler with different bits adapted to it? Interesting concept I'm sure that some out there could use it to great effect, not sure if I'd be one of them.
  3. I use veg tanned leather, and dye using fiebings via an airbrush prior to assembling/stitching. I get my best results this way, although I haven't tried dip dyeing.
  4. I've made a few holsters of that style. I sort of dig the look.
  5. AFAIK, Yes you can use any compact 1911 for a pattern.
  6. That is a great idea. I have one of those hand operated hydraulic wood splitters laying around. A coworker wanted rid of it a couple years ago, I've always intended on making it into a small shop press. Clearance will be low for me, being constructed out of an I-beam, but I'll give it a try. Thanks for the inspiration.
  7. Hello everyone, I'm Lucas. Been tinkering with leatherwork as a hobby for a couple years now. Here is some of my work. Any tips or advice is greatly appreciated. This project started it all for me. I wanted a gunbelt for my Ruger Vaquero, and an older gent whom I used to work with was gracious enough to help me make one at his shop After that day, I bought a few tools of my own and started making projects on my own. Some of my early projects didn't turn out so well, some turned out somewhat serviceable After a few more attempts with varying degrees of success, I've finally gotten to a point that I'm happy with my work. I realize that my work is nowhere near the best that it could be, but I'm still learning everyday. Thanks for looking!
