Belt Question

Recommended Posts

I'm working on making my first belt, and I was curious as to what to do about the back side of the belt. The backside is somewhat napped up, and most of the belts I've seen (even ones that are hand made) are smooth... Is there a certain way to smooth it out or a tool that I need to use?

Thanks,

Chris

I glue a 2oz liner on my belts. It gives it a nicer finish. If you do not have access to a thin long length for a liner, just contact Hidecrafters. They sell belt liners in Veg-Tan.

I use mink oil and bees wax. You can also sand the back if it is really rough or as someone already pointed out you can line the back.
