I finally got my first two projects done.

I am pretty happy with the stitching, but the edges need to be finished. I can't really finish these edges because the leather is so floppy, so I just trimmed them as clean as possible.

Let me know what you think!

I second that. I like the designs and for a first project I would say you did a great job. Keep up the good work.

That's great for a first project! If you're going to keep working with soft leather, you might want to look into something like edge paint, or something else that works for chrome tanned. You'd probably find it much more rewarding to use thin veg tanned.

Edges would look great with Fenice edge paint (Tandy Pro Edge Paint) which is on sale at Tandy. Couple coats, sand, another coat or two and some 600 or higher grit sandpaper and a coat of paraffin wax.

Thanks all. I am going to Tandy today, so I will look at the edge paint.

I will also look at the veg-tanned stuff.

For first projects they look good. Simple and workable, retro. Are you a re-enactor? Those look like 19th century wallets. My first was a disaster with a capital D, yours look very good.
