Stapled Motorcycle Seat

Recommended Posts

This is a double Seat that somebody is asking for me to replace their vinel with leather. It is stapled into the seat, which is easy enough to remove but can, or should I use staples again if rivets are not wanted? It is a 3-4 oz leather that will not be tooled. (Not vege-tanned other question would be, would it be a mistake to put eyelets on and tie the seat on like a cover?

I suppose you could staple it, but I would push for rivets or a full bottom cover that will eliminate the need for any fasteners.

Just wrap both sides and lace it together.

I re covered the seats for a Honda Shadow with leather rather than vinyl at customers request and after making the cover I stapled back on in same manner as the vinyl came off.

that seats been done 6 months now and is used daily and up to press he has had no problems at all with it.

I staple all my original plastic seat pans...never had a problem....get urself a good upholstery gun and adjust air to where staples wont go to deep and cut your 3-4oz leather....if leather is damp and even less air so it wont be cut by these staples!!

If you have a custom made seat pan, then rivets are the way to go....of course all metal pans needs to be riveted or laced as mentioned..if seat pan is rather flat, then you can wrap it bottom and top and then sew arround it...looks cool and lasts for a long time too...always glue your top to the seatpan or foam!

Greetings.
