  1. Hi folks. I started leatherworking just a few short weeks ago, and I'm in the midst of tackling my first extensive project with my own original template design - a woman's wallet! Before I start stitching the card slot pieces together, I wanted some opinions as to how I should layer the card slots, and stitch them all-together See the picture below, but I cut each of the card slots to align flush with the main, exterior leather piece. I've seen a lot of wallet designs where the card slots are pretty much cut to the exact length of the cards only. I'm concerned that by leaving the additional leather underneath where I'm stitching them into place, is creating un-necessary thickness, and will make the final outer stitching more difficult (punching through additional leather, that isn't necessary). Do I leave my card slots the way they are, and punch through all those layers, or do I cut the card slots to length? Hopefully I've explained this well enough for folks to understand. Thanks!
