I first tried leather working at a SCA workshop and loved it. Now I hope to combine my renewed interest in leather working with saddle and tack repair so I can integrate my love of horses with an artistic outlet.

LW Info

  • Interested in learning about
Everything. I'm a rank beginner with visions of doing saddle repair some day.
  • How did you find leatherworker.net?
    Johanna told me about it.
  1. Thanks for the info. I'll make a note of it for when I get around to trying a halter from scratch. And Big Ben, my Belgian? Well he's not THAT big -- one and a half hides should do it. Now let's talk saddles... Thx again and keep up the good work!
  2. Can anyone tell me what I'm getting when I call Mrs. Rober number? The answering machine is asking for a mailbox number -- ?? Is this a work phone? I'd leave a message for her but I can't figure out how to do it. Thx.
  3. That is DEFINITELY a show piece! WOW!
  4. That's lovely. It's very rich and substantial looking. Since I hope to get into tack repair some day, I hope you won't mind answering a few questions for me... What sort of machine do you use to do the stitching? What weight/type leather did you use? P.S. Oh, yes, would you be MY friend, too? I have a handsome Belgian who needs a nice halter.
  5. That's LOVELY! The little hearts were a nice touch. Lucky girl.
  6. I've been reading old posts and have followed links to a few pages listing leather guilds but there seems to be a dirth of guilds up in the western NY area. (Buffalo, NY, and surrounding areas.) There also aren't any Tandy shops here, either. I'm hoping that someone might know of some little guild that isn't showing up on the listings of the bigger guilds and could help me find them. I'm a beginner and I would love to be able to meet with other folks who do leatherwork. I've always been pretty good at teaching myself stuff but I think leatherworking might be easier with real-life teachers to talk to. Thx.
