Cody have you got the belts galore book by Stohlman it has a bunch of patterns in it. Also there are a couple of new craftaids with floral patterns. No.76623, no.76576 and a couple of others.

In addition to the Stohlman book, there's one called the Lucky Eight Belt Book. You can get it at Tandy or an e-copy leathercraftlibrary.com. Not as many patterns as Stohlman, but some nice floral work in there.

When you study the patterns in the aforementioned books, you'll see that they're just a short floral motif that is flipped and repeated over the length of the belt. Look at the curves in the lines of the pattern, and how they become seamless when repeated.

It's surprisingly easy to draw your own unique patterns once you realize this. Scan your motif, and use photoshop to flip and repeat it. Voila, a new, unique pattern!

Hey Cody

Let me get a little information so as to see what specifically you are interested in.

I have a boatload of belt patterns in a few different forms. I have all the books mentioned by posters to your thread, in addition to others not as well known. For instance, in one of F.O. Baird's books there are probably 10 pages of different floral and geometric and also pictorial style belts.

So, let me know what widths and style you are primarily interested in and I will dig some out for you. I guess I should ask what you have access to right now and we'll work from there.

There are literally thousands out there and I have some original ones as well, from long, long ago.

Are you a beginner at tooling, or what skills have you already worked on, and what tools generally do you possess?

I enjoy helping people interested in this craft, because I think that is what keeps it alive and relevant in the big picture.

So Cody, let me know what you have in mind and I'll trace you off some of the stuff you like or may like.

Jay
